Adam Hadwin ‘robbed’ of hole in one

Canadian Adam Hadwin is in such a rich vein of form right now that is was a real surprise to see his hole in one fail to materialise at the Arnold Palmer Invitational this past weekend.

The 29-year-old notched his first PGA Tour victory at the Valspar Championship, and carried his momentum over into Bay Hill, where he finished sixth at 8-under par.

However, things could have been even better for Hadwin. On the famous par-3 17th hole, the Canadian hit a perfect shot which should have put him within one stroke of the lead. Alas, it was not meant to be.

The golf ball was the perfect loft, perfect bounce, and the perfect speed and path to the hole, but the pin denied him of the ace. The golf gods, it seemed, were not smiling on Hadwin this time around. Ye he couldn’t have hit a better shot – it was perfect.

“From my angle, it had pretty good line,” he said via SportsNet Canada. “I checked my phone (after) and, I had somebody text me, ‘Wait till you see the replay. You won't believe it didn't go in.'"
