The golf world, and many out of it, have been left rocked by the news that Jarrod Lyle is going into palliative care after claiming he is “no longer able to fight.”
Slow & Steady Wins The Grand Slam
Phil Mickelson is still hoping to complete a career Grand Slam...eventually. He would be the oldest player to do it by a massive margin, but as long he makes it then ‘Lefty’ doesn’t care.
The only other players to have won all four major titles in their careers are Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods – an exclusive club which Mickelson is on the cusp of being able to join.
Mickelson is 43 years old and victory at the Open Championship thanks to a brilliant final round 66 at Muirfield means that now he has completed three legs of the Grand Slam journey, notching up wins in the Open, Masters and USPGA Championship.
The only blemish on this stellar record, and the one event which is keeping him from joining the Grand Slam club, is the US Open, which continues to evade him.
