Phil Mickelson fishes golf ball from spectators’ umbrella

There’s rarely a dull moment when Lefty is on the field, and the President’s Cup this past weekend supplied us with yet another opportunity to enjoy a classic Phil Mickelson moment.

Chosen as a captain’s pick in a rather surprising move, Mickelson had a very topsy-turvy event.

He holed out from bunkers, was penalised for using the wrong ball was even the USA team’s good luck charm as his teammates rubbed his belly at every opportunity.

But the best moment was saved for Sunday’s singles. On the 11th hole he somehow managed to land his golf ball inside a spectators’ umbrella.

After taking a free drop he then hit his ball into the face of a greenside bunker. An impossible up and down. But they don’t call him "Phil the Thrill” for nothing…
