Miyazato eyes first major title before retirement

Former World No.1 Ai Miyazato is hoping to break her major duck this week at the Women’s PGA Championship in Illinois before hanging up her clubs and retiring from the sport.

Miyazato made the announcement last month and says she will be quitting the game at the end of this season, having won nine titles on the LPGA Tour. However, she has never won a major title, and the 32-year-old is desperate to correct that on Thursday.

“I want to deliver results,” Miyazato said after tuning up at the Olympia Fields Country Club. “The (hole) distances are long and the greens are difficult too. < /p>

“I went around the course today thinking how much I love the difficulty and tactical nature of the majors,” she added.
