The golf world, and many out of it, have been left rocked by the news that Jarrod Lyle is going into palliative care after claiming he is “no longer able to fight.”
Kuchar Wins in Ohio
Matt Kuchar won the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Ohio after finishing two shots clear of fellow American Kevin Chappell in a pulsating affair.
Kuchar was overnight leader and shot a four-under-par final round of 68, giving him an overall score of 12 under, with English pair Justin Rose and Brian Davis topped the list of Europeans by earning a share of eighth place on four under.
Tiger Woods finished on eight over with Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy again struggling for form at six over.
Leading by a slender lead of two heading into the final round, Kuchar was never really in danger of being caught in Ohio, an event hosted by Jack Nicklaus.
He birdied all four of the par-fives to remain in total control of the contest and thus confirmed his win after sinking a brilliant 20-foot birdie putt at the par-four last. Chappell, was seeking his first PGA Tour victory, birdied four of the last six holes for a bogey-free 68.
It was a forgettable week once again for five-time champion Tiger Woods, who had a time best forgotten after finishing with a level-par 72, a massive 20 strokes off the pace, while McIlroy did not fare any better, only narrowly making the cut after a terrible opening 78, finally carding a final-round 72 for a six-over par total.
