The golf world, and many out of it, have been left rocked by the news that Jarrod Lyle is going into palliative care after claiming he is “no longer able to fight.”
Justin Leonard breaks hole with shot at The Players Championship
Another Friday, another hilarious golf news story. This time it concerns Justin Leonard, the 1998 Players Champion who was back at Sawgrass yesterday for the first round of the “fifth major.”
And it didn’t take Justin long to show the rest of the field he meant business when he broke the lip off the first hole, although he did manage to make eagle in doing so.
The groundscrew had to be called in to repair the damaged hole, and it wasn’t long before the incident was making the rounds on Twitter, with Brendan Porath of SBNational.com tweeting the following message to the golfing world:
‘Emergency surgery needed on TPC Sawgrass 1st hole after Justin Leonard dunked it from 147 yards out.’
To top it off, Leonard was on course to shoot a 36 after his first hole! Here’s hoping he can keep up the good play, although maybe toning down the power a little would be a wise move. Just a suggestion…
