Watch: Lydia Ko misses out on securing third successive major with missed putt

Could this be the missed putt that cost Lydia Ko her third successive major championship? It would certainly seem so as the New Zealander suffered a heart breaking loss to Canadian Brooke Henderson at the Women’s PGA Championship in Seattle.

When the game ended with both players on six-under-par, Ko hit a wonderful tee shot to within three feet of the hole at the 171-yard par-three 17th hole. It was a distance she had played out from in the past with no issues.

However, she missed on the high side and could only par the 18th, meaning both players finished the 72 holes at six-under.

Canadian Henderson, who had been playing easily her best game to date, nailed her approach shot at the first playoff hole to within three feet and then calmly slotted home the birdie to defeat a dejected Ko and notch her first major title at the age of 18.
