“Grow up!” Tyrrell Hatton receives dressing down from Gary Evans over his behaviour

Tyrell Hatton came into the British Masters full of optimism, but following a laboured performance on the greens, the Englishman’s mood quickly soured – his poor attitude drawing the ire of fellow pro Gary Evans.

Hatton was one shot off the lead heading into the final day, but a final-round one-under 69 on a day of low scoring, and winding up in a tie for eighth, probably represented a bad day at the office for the talented young Englishman.

Things got off to a rocky start as Hatton needed seven holes to pick up his first shot of the day. Though he also managed three more, he collected three bogeys in the process – including two in his last four holes. In the end, it was Ireland’s Paul Dunne who claimed his first European Tour title.

Unfortunately, the 25-year-old couldn’t keep his temper in check and allowed his anger to spill over more than once during the final round.

Tyrell’s behaviour was so bad it was even picked up by Sky Sports commentator Mark Roe, who called him out for inflicting some red-mist damage on the 15th green.

However, it wasn’t just a tame on-air admonishment that Tyrell received. Fellow Englishman and golf professional Gary Evans flew into a public dressing-down of Hatton, pointing to his terrible tantrums and awful body language on display throughout most of the final day.

Evans, a veteran of more than 350 European Tour appearances, took to Twitter to voice his disapproval at Hatton’s behaviour – and he didn’t hold back.

And others were quick to agree with Evans’ comments.

So far, Hatton hasn’t responded, tweeting only a congratulatory message to Dunne
