Golf giants adidas has been named official uniform provider for athletes, coaches and staff of Team USA – meaning they will clothe players representing the United States of America when golf makes it triumphant return to the Olympic Games in 2016.
"We are elated that the game's best players will showcase their talents in our apparel on the world's greatest stage," adidas Golf President Ben Sharpe said on Tuesday as the agreement was announced at Trump National Doral in Miami. Also in attendance were adidas Golf ambassadors Dustin Johnson and Jessica Korda.
"The storied history of adidas has long been associated with the greatest athletes in the world, and we're proud to support the athletes of the USA Golf Team as they compete for their place in Olympic history," added Sharpe.
The men and women golfers who will walk out in the red, white and blue of Team USA in Rio de Janeiro will receive layering pieces, polo’s, outwear and pants that adidas say will be “designed and engineered to the highest levels of innovation the brand has ever developed.”
No pictures of the apparel range has yet been unveiled, however adidas has said that’s it is also creating a USA Golf-branded line of apparel that will be available to the public later in the year.
