Padraig Harrington soars 100 places in World Rankings after Indonesia Open victory
Padraig Harrington rocketed over 100 places in the World Rankings after recording a victory at the Indonesia Open.
Harrington had been adamant his form was returning in recent weeks, but until the tense final hole in which his rival player Thanyakon Khrongpha plunged his ball into the water, few would have held out much belief for the former World No.3.
The win sees Harrington shoot back up to 260th after his win in the event, his first at a full field tournament since the 2010 Johor Open title. Following that victory the 43-year-old had plummeted to 371st in the world with little sign he could turn the tide.
Speaking after the final round on Sunday, Harrington said: "Winning is a good habit to have. It gives you a lot of confidence and I need that confidence.
"I didn't start too well, but I came through and I got the win. This win brings a lot of confidence to my game and hopefully it will show up next year."
The popular Dubliner also told TV reports that he wouldn’t be sitting on his laurels and intended to make “100,000 swings” over an upcoming 49-day break from tournament golf.
