Mickelson holes outrageous shot from fairway bunker at Presidents Cup

Phil Mickelson had a very mixed second day at the Presidents Cup.

Lefty was penalised twice on the same hole early in the round for playing a different ball and then for not finishing the hole. Confusion surrounded whether or not Mickelson was given the correct information while on the course, but was later told he’d been disqualified from the hole after it was deemed he had used a different ball, which meant it wouldn’t matter if he finished the hole or not.

Confused? You aren’t the only one!

However, it later emerged that it did matter because Phil was penalised again for not finishing the hole and the International team of Adam Scott and Jason Day went two up.

Mickelson and his partner Zach Johnson managed to pull the deficit back, though, largely thanks to an incredible shot from Lefty which saw him hole out from a fairway bunker.
