Lydia Ko splits from caddie after just nine tournaments

Lydia Ko seems to be obsessed with making changes to her game these days! Over the past 12 months, she’s dropped instructor David Leadbetter for Gary Gilchrist, changed her equipment from Callaway to PXG, and is now looking for a new caddie for the second time this season. Just what is happening in the Ko camp right now?

Ko and caddie Gary Matthews split after just nine events, following Ko’s tie for second place last week in Hawaii at the LPGA Lotte Championship. The duo had five top-10 finishes together, and seemed to be gelling well on the greens.

Prior to working with Matthews, Ko had scored 10 LPGA Tour wins with caddie Jason Hamilton--before the duo went their separate ways last year. Hamilton was Ko’s longest-tenured caddie, and now she’ll be adding another face to a list that already includes ten names.

The 19-year-old World No. 1 has not yet announced who will be her new caddie, but we should find out ahead of her next start at the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout in Irving, Texas, from April 27-30.
