‘Grip It and Eat it’: Pizza chain to be opened by John Daly
John Daly, the man who loves his golf as much as he loves his smokes, appears to have found a new marriage; one of the hot, cheesy meat-bread kind.
That’s right – John Daly has founded his very own pizza “system.” According to Stephen Hennessey of Golf Digest, “John Daly Pizza is trying to market itself to golf courses, by providing the ingredients and materials to produce pizzas at the facility."
But wait it gets better. “On top of a pizza box provided, there’s a John Daly golf ball marker that comes attached.”
John Daly isn’t messing about with his new franchise, either. The 47-year-old Californian has invested fully in the idea, launching the website johndalypizza.com which provides a breakdown of the pizza, marketing process and other useful information about all things pizza that most of us could only dream of knowing!
This is pizza by the golfer for the golfer, and with a catchy slogan such as “Grip It and Eat It,” there’s really nothing more to be explained.
Daly’s business partner, Jimmy Howell, is strongly backing the product. A long time owner of another famous pizza joint in the US, Howell says he and Daly began flipping the idea of tossing pizza around several years back and are just now in a position to make their dreams a reality.
Of course there’s always going to be question marks over whether pizza is such good food to sell on a golf course. Well it’s hot, tasty and fun – so we’re backing the idea full-throttle, as is Howell who says: "Instead of a hot dog or a burger that every golf course has, this is a fun idea that gives people something different. And everybody loves pizza."
