Footballer Gareth Bale builds replica of TPC Sawgrass' 17th at his Wales home

Gareth Bale might be famous for his skills on the football pitch, but did you know the Welshman is also an avid golfer? So much so, in fact, that Bale has taken his love for golf to a new level by installing replicas of some of the sports’ most iconic holes in his vast back garden.

The Real Madrid playmaker took the decision to have three famous par-three holes created at his house in South Wales back in 2015. Ariel images show one of them fully completed.

Screenshots show that Bale has his own version of TPC Sawgrass' 17th hole installed at the property, with the design including the island green and other similarities of the infamous Stadium Hole.

The ambitious project also reportedly includes plans to have versions of the infamous Postage Stamp at Royal Troon and the par-three 12th at Augusta National created.

Bale has revealed he’s a single-figure handicapper, and even appeared in several celebrity golf events the past few years.

Sawgrass is renowned for being one of the toughest par-threes on the PGA Tour, with 69 balls ending up in the water surrounding the 137-yard hole during this year's players Championship.
