Callaway Golf’s Lydia Ko may need wrist surgery
It has been reported that a leading specialist is advising Callaway Golf’s Lydia Ko to have surgery on her wrist, with the uber-talented teen possibly going under the knife as early as next month.
The 17-year-old is currently third in the world rankings and has been fighting through the pain barrier in recent tournaments. Her coach David Leadbetter claims a cyst on Ko’s wrist which has grown is to blame for the discomfort.
It is also being reported that Leadbetter is the one who put Ko in touch with a leading surgeon, who advised her to have surgery.
Speaking to Radio Sport, Ko’s coach explained that she might have to take several weeks off after the surgery – likely to be after next month’s fifth and final major of the year, the Evian Championship in France.
At the moment Ko’s injury is not prohibiting her from playing, and she will still be defending her Canadian Open title this weekend in London, Ontario.
