Bubba Watson ready for jam-packed schedule

Bubba Watson has spoken out about his jam-packed schedule, which includes three tournaments contested over three weeks.

The PING golfer is still hurting from a disappointing T60 finish at the PGA Championship at Baltusrol, but he will have little time for wound licking as he travels to Cromwell in Connecticut for the Travelers Championship this weekend.

That means Watson will miss the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Rio on Friday, revealing he plans to fly in just for the golf event itself – which tees off on Thursday 11 August.

"We took that into consideration, about how the Olympics just throws the whole schedule off," the two-time major winner told pgatour.com.

"One week throws the whole schedule off, how they had to do things. And I was fourth in the world for the last two years, so I knew I had a good shot at making the Olympic team, so we had to prepare for that.

"It was a no-brainer never to miss the Travelers. This was never coming off the schedule. We've always planned on being here. No matter what happened, I was going to be here. So I'm missing opening ceremonies...so I'm just going to fly in for the golf tournament and then fly out."

Watson is the defending champion at the Travelers this year.
