US Open Goes To Play Off
The 108th US Open at Torrey Pines last night went into a play off in dramatic fashion as Tiger Woods held a twelve foot putt for birdie at the last.
As the event went into the closing holes, it looked as though only Woods, Rocco Mediate, and Lee Westwood were in contention, and when Mediate took the clubhouse lead at 1 under par it meant both Woods and Westwood needed a birdie four at the last to go into a play off. Both drove into bunkers from the tee, both had to lay up, and both put their third shots within striking range. Unfortunately for Westwood, he couldn't hold his putt and then had to watch Tiger hole his stunning 12 footer.
The 18 hole play off (unusually being played on a Monday) will take place this afternoon at 17:30 BST (18:30 CEST) and will be shown in the UK live on Sky Sports 3.
