Britain & Ireland's Fourth Seve Trophy Win

Without a single Irishman in Nick Faldo's team, the fourth win for Britain & Ireland at the fifth edition of The Seve Trophy at The Heritage Golf & Spa Resort at Killenard, Co. Laois on the 27-30th September went mostly unnoticed.

The galleries were sparse with no more than 300 spectators. Not picking a home player really backfired, especially when Dubliner Paul McGinley was an obvious choice.

I felt I should put the young guns in who were chomping at the bit to play, Faldo said.

Faldo chose Englishman Simon Dyson and Scotsman Marc Warren as his wild cards.

The highlight of the event was Graeme Storm’s swinging 20ft putt on the 18th that put him and partner Nick Dougherty ahead of Danes Thomas Bjorn and Soren Hansen by one hole.
