Padraig Wins Dramatic Play Off At The Open
Padraig Harrington won Europe's first major for eight years today in a dramatic final day at Carnoustie. Sergio Garcia led the tournament for the first three rounds but let it slip a little to give Harrington and Romero a chance to sneak in. None of these players made par on the last though and it came down to a play off between the Irishman and the Spaniard after both finished on -7.
An emotional Harrington will no doubt celebrate long into the night, as will Wilson Staff no doubt, who will have been proud to see their ambassador lift the trophy. Perhaps it's no coincidence that eight years ago, the last European winner Paul Lawrie played Wilson Staff equipment....
