Cink Sinks Important Putts
The 138th British Open at Turnberry golf course went the distance with American golfer Stewart Cink beating veteran Tom Watson in a 4-hole playoff.
Veteran American golfer Watson played some fantastic golf over the 1st 3 days of the golf tournament, surging to the top of the leaderboard for the final days’ golf. However, the final day didn’t go as well, with 5 bogeys, and a crucial missed putt for par at the 18th and final hole.
Cink kept his head in the playoff, scoring 2 pars and 2 birdies to beat Watson by 6 shots and vastly improve on his previous Open Championship performances – previously, his only top 10 finish was at the 2007 Open at Carnoustie.
To clinch the victory, Cink used a variety of Nike golf equipment, including Nike Sumo2 Driver, Nike CCi Irons, as well as Nike Victory Red Wedges, a Nike Putter, and Nike One Tour D golf balls.
