Here's a list of the questions other shoppers have asked owners of the Garmin Approach S4

  1. Mick asked on
I wear glasses for reading, but NOT for playing golf. I am looking for a GPS watch with LARGE numbers. Would the S4 be easier to read than the S2?

    1. Tony replied on
Distance to the center of the green is in large easy to read numbers,
    2. sudchai replied on
Yes Mick, the top left button will illuminate the watch face in low light, for daytime like summer with very strong sun light the number are very easy to read as well no glare from the watch face.
Practice using each button one as a time when you are at the course once you know the function of each button you will enjoy the advantages of having the watch and plans your game accordingly.
The hand book that come with very useful make sure you set every things before you start a round.
      Hope this help.
  2. Dennis asked on
Does it show distances to all bunkers and water hazards?
    1. Richard replied on
No it shows lay up point on dog legs etc could use with a course planner to work out layup ppints
    2. Brian replied on
You can also add your own lay-up points - markers etc - it's easy to do chist on the course, then next time you play they will be stored for you
  3. paul asked on
Is the strap replaceable? My existing watch has broken its strap & cannot be replaced-2 years old
    1. richard replied on
Yes it is replaceable. Amazon do them complete with new lugs and the tools for replacement. There is a choice of eight colours too. Less than £6
    2. Ian replied on
Yes you can buy a new one shop around
  4. Agnes asked on
does the watch come with attachments ie charger etc
    1. Val replied on
Yes it comes with a charging plate which has a USB connector on the other end. Thus you can charge the watch via a computer (takes time) or via a plug in a socket. You need to attach it to the charging plate and plug it into a computer to download your data.
The plate has 4 small brass pins which need to match holes in the watch. It is quite hard to fix together sometimes and one of my pins has broken off after only 4 months. I can still charge but not download data. I am trying to get a replacement under warranty otherwise will need to spend £20 to replace it. I would say take care of hen recharging.

Garmin Connect Compatible

The Garmin S4 GPS Watch is compatible with Garmin Connect to give you the ability to review rounds and see performance statistics before and after play, as well as the ability to share scores with your fellow golfers. Garmin Connect shows hole by hole details for your favourite courses so you can see where to improve your game and view your Dream Score on each course. Dream Score is what you would score if you hit your best score from each individual hole all in one round. The Scorecard feature allows you to view and share your scorecards and keep track who you’ve played with. You can also see the number of fairways hit, greens in regulation and number of putts for that round. Garmin Connect also keeps track of your stats and track of your progress over time. Track your longest shots, view your average score by par, overall fairways hit percentage, overall greens in regulation percentage and average putts. Garmin Connect will take your golf to the next level.

Track Your Stats

The enhanced stat tracking feature keeps track of fairways hit, greens in regulation and putts per round. Not only can you check your stats during the round, but you also can download and print them from your computer

Layup Distances

Course management is key – especially if you haven’t played a course before. Layup distances shows you the distances you need with yardages to doglegs and other hazards on the course.

Green View

In this mode, you are shown the true shape and layout of greens so even if you have an obstructed view, you’ll know where to aim. Plus, you can touch and drag the pin to the day's location

Multiple scoring options

The Garmin Approach S4 doubles as a digital scorecard with scoring options for Stroke Play and Stableford (not handicap scoring).
