Camilo Villegas like many professional golfers took up the sport at a young age. At the age of 16 he went on to become the first player in the Colombian history to win numerous amateur titles from the Amateurs Grand Slam, National Junior Championship, National Amateur Championship and the Colombian Open amateur category, all in the very same year! His golfing successes in Colombia in the 1990's earned him “Player of the Decade” awarded by the Colombian Golf Federation itself.
After proving to be a golfing star Camilo Villegas earned himself a scholarship to play college golf at the University of Florida before turning Pro, and has gained position 56 th in the World Rankings after achieving his PGA Tour Card in 2006. The young golfer has also starred in GQ and People magazines, and shows support in charities one of his efforts was at the Deutsche Bank Championship where he took part in Caddy for a Cure.
