South African golfer Charl Schwartzel took the spoils after a dramatic final round in Augusta, heading into the final day joint second on 8 under par, 4 shots behind the in-form Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy. Schwartzel quickly settled any nerves he may have had with a birdie and a fantastic eagle in the first three holes before hitting an awkward bogey on the fourth to leave him just one just behind the leader McIlroy. The pair then fought a close battle throughout the front nine, with McIlroy dropping a shot on fifth hole, bringing the pair locked together on 10 under, and then regaining the lead again on the seventh, setting up a thrilling back nine which simply could not have been predicted.
