Oliver was spotted at the young age of nine by Chris Jenkins, one of Europe’s leading golf coaches. Since this time Chris has continued to teach Oliver, whose golf has continued to improve.
Even as an amateur golfer, Oliver has always been successful, winning the Faldo Series (Nick Faldo’s development programme for young golfers) three years running from 2003 to 2005. In 2005 he became the youngest golfer to compete for Great Britain in the Walker Cup at the tender age of 16. However, it wasn't until a year later, in 2006, when his career really started to take shape. Oliver competed at the European Tour Qualifying School finishing fifth, making him the youngest Briton to obtain a tour card. Immediately after Oliver entered into his professional career as a golfer and has been successful ever since.
