Johan Edfors turned Pro in 1997 and spent several years playing on the Challenge Tour. In 2003 he showed great potential topping the Challenge Tour Rankings and gaining two victories. He narrowly lost his Tour Card in the early 2004 and returned to the Challenge Tour in 2005, finishing up in 45 th on the Rankings before winning him back his place on Tour at the Qualifying School.

2006 was a better year for Edfors which saw him sore to victory at the Scottish Open, TCL Classic and Quinn Direct Bristish Masters, taking him into the top 50 of the World Golf Rankings. Although since this time Edfors has not gained any victories he had four top ten finishes in 2009, helping him to end the year in 32 nd position.
